Lisa Melone Cloughen
Reinvents the Ideal Pied-à-Terre
in Manhattan
I
n commissioning Lisa Melone Cloughen of
the design firm Melone Cloughen Interiors
to create their dream pied-à-terre, in a
landmark, pre-war Park Avenue building in
the heart of Manhattan, the clients' directives were
straightforward. e clients' requested a minimalist
sense of glamour and sophistication set against a
neutral color palette. And a less is more masterpiece
is what Melone Cloughen Interiors elegantly
delivered.
"Given the clients' preferences and sophistication,
I wanted the space to have a grand feeling with more
than a nod to the period of the building," says the
designer. "All of the millwork is new, but it does
hark back to an earlier era. I would consider the
interiors to be a modern riff on the glamour of Art
Deco in New York."
The finishes, furnishings and glazed walls enhance the classical
proportions of the rooms. Custom wool rugs with silk borders from
The Rug Company. The deco-inspired white gold leaf chandelier
from Paul Ferrante. The doors to living room are flanked by a John
Salidino (left0 arm chair in Bridal Silk from Holly Hunt and custom
trim from Samuel and Sons. The chair on the right is from Niermann
Weeks in linen Strie from Osborne and Little with Vervain.
