Known for highlighting the best of Austrian art, music, and literature both past and present, the multi-level gallery, theater, and library hosts over 100 events annually in its auditorium. Curated by Brett Littman, Executive Director of e Drawing Center based in Soho, New York, its newest exhibition, "e Projective Drawing," based on architectural historian Robin Evans' book e Projective Cast, defining the mental, physical, and emotional experiences we feel when we see architecture. Littman applies Evan's theory in this exhibit by highlighting the works of Austrian and International artists that require the viewer's participation. Within the striking architecture of the ACFNY building, the exhibition unfolds and reveals its non-linear structure and the emotional influence it has on one, as they stroll through the building. Site-specific installations created by Judith Saupper and Lionel Favre redefine the art of drawing and requires viewers to around, into and even crawl under the works to fully experience them. Leopold Strobl, who works with Galerie Gugging in Vienna, creates miniature landscapes on old newspapers with his signature dark voids, prompting one to contemplate the nature of the drawing. Mix it Up, with nearly over a dozen featured distinguished artists, "e Projective Drawing," is a must-see for all looking to connect with art and architecture.
