An artist who began in the streets of New York and grew into an artistic force to be reckoned with - all the while honing his talents in France and the world Face to Face, Acrylic and ink on canvas 58 x 81 inches, 147 x 205 cm, 2016 Courtesy of the artist and Galerie Bartoux alerie Bartoux is pleased to announce the opening of Crossing Over, a solo exhibition of all new works by JonOne on view from November 30th through January 8th at their gallery on 104 Central Park South, New York. Extraordinary artist and New York native, JonOne is preparing to return to the city that launched his artistic career as a teenager. An American street artist, John Andrew Perello alias JonOne, was born in Harlem of Dominican origin. Known for kaleidoscopic graffiti and tags all over New York in his early days, JonOne was nevertheless influenced by such modern masters as Miro, Kandinsky, Matisse, Jackson Pollock, and Jean Dubuffet. He developed his signature colorful abstract style with dynamic brushstrokes, drips, and patterns on the architecture and infrastructure of the city. Upon moving to Paris, France in 1987, JonOne put his marks on canvas. His work has been exhibited worldwide and he continues to add depth to his endeavors by incorporating the bold, richly hued areas to contrast the softer and more delicate brushstrokes. e pulse of the urban areas that inspired him in his early days can still be felt as it is captured on canvas. e key concept of the artist is to evoke the sense of freedom inherent to the freestyle graffiti of the 1980s while retaining an elegance and grace of more formal art. It is a melding of two forms into a new evolution of painting style known as Abstract Expressionist Graffiti. He has been involved in some very high- end collaboration such as decorating an aircraft for Air France, and the Rolls Royce of Eric Cantona, the French actor and former international footballer. e endless and uninhibited energy JonOne possesses inspires his work – works that all the while boast bold color, stylized calligraphy, and that sense of the relationship between positive and negative space. In 2015, JonOne received France's prestigious Ordre National de la Légion d 'Honneur. He has exhibited at the Kolly Gallery in Zürich, Gallery Magda Danysz in Shanghai, Speerstra Gallery in Paris, Carré Saint-Anne in Montpelier and L'Institute Culturel Bernard Magrez. G
