www.privateairny.com Private Air New York | Fall 2016 54 DRIVE In 1900, at age 17, Bugatti built his first vehicle, a motorized tricycle powered by two engines made by De Dion, when he was an apprentice at the bicycle and tricycle manufacturing firm of Prinetti & Stucchi. Several years later, under his company, Automobiles E. Bugatti, Bugatti began developing the model for Peugeot and sold design licenses to Diatto in Turin, Rabag from Düsseldorf, and Crossley from Manchester, Great Britain. During WWI, Bugatti developed and produced aircraft engines for both the American and French governments. After that it was all race cars and luxury cars, and then the combination of both that set the company's course for greatness, which leads us to today with the Bugatti Chiron.
