www.privateairny.com Private Air New York | Summer 2015 76 WEEKEND Just a stroll – or a short bike ride atop one of the Maidstone's cheery red Kronan bikes - is the casual elegance of East Hampton replete with posh shops including Hermes, Tory Burch and Ralph Lauren and an impressive collection of distinctive boutiques like Calypso St. Barth where browsing through candy colored racks of clothing and intriguing jewelry feels as if you're shopping in an opulent Easter basket full of goodies. If the natural beauty of the Hamptons inspires you, a trip to Wittendale's is a must. e iconic nursery and garden center is one of the area's oldest businesses and has been a fixture on Newtown Lane since 1921. Today, it's a brilliantly hued palette of blooms punctuated with a seemingly endless supply of striking garden elements and containers – everything one could possibly need to create their own outdoor haven. Of course, in the Hamptons the ocean with its many charms is never far. In East Hampton there are five public beaches from which to choose. While all are covetable to visit any time of year, three – Main Beach, Georgica Beach, and Two Mile Hollow Beach – are lifeguard protected for swimmers during the summer season. While non-resident beach parking permits are hot commodities usually sold out well before the first warm day of spring, most area inns and hotels can provide entry for guests. With such potent allure, it's little wonder why East Hampton and all her tony neighboring towns and villages serves as New York's summer gold coast. Shine on, Hamptons…. shine on.
