www.privateairny.com Private Air New York | Summer 2015 24 W hat do you get when you combine one former record company executive, a music retail industry guru, and two legendary music photographers? A powerhouse team of creative geniuses. And lucky for music lovers everywhere, the hard hitting group that launched the one-and-only Morrison Hotel Gallery: the world leader in fine art photography, and the place where more than 125 acclaimed photographers give us a peek of the unforgettable moments in music history they caught on film. Founded by Peter Blachley, Richard Horowitz, Henry Diltz and Timothy White in 2001, Morrison Hotel Gallery has since curated countless collections of some of the most rare and iconic music photography from around the world. Working directly with the actual photographers who produced them, the family estates that store them, or the legendary musicians featured in them, this one-of-a-kind gallery brings to life the music that, previously, we may have only heard. Giving viewers a peek of the past, Morrison Hotel Gallery houses a growing collection of jazz, blues, and rock photos, dating as far back as the 1940s. In addition to these, curious guests will also find photography that captures key moments in Hollywood and sports history; some of which were taken by the founders themselves. With five locations spread across the United States -- on Prince Street in SoHo, New York; in the luxurious Dream Hotel in NYC's Meatpacking district; the Mens Market at the Americana Manhasset on Long Island; the Sunset Marquis Hotel and finally, in Los Angeles' West Hollywood W Hotel -- Morrison Hotel Gallery has purposely placed itself in some of the world's most popular destinations for chart toppers and Hollywood's elite. But aside from the famous faces hanging on its walls -- and sometimes, walking through its galleries -- for the founders, Morrison Hotel Gallery is more than a showcase. It's a testament to the indelible impact music and art, and the people who create them, have had on society as a whole. "Morrison Hotel Gallery has evolved into something that has touched many people's lives through the beautiful photographs that hang in thousands of homes and businesses throughout the world," says Peter Blachley, founder and co-owner of Morrison Hotel Gallery. "A true testament to the power of art and music, Morrison Hotel Gallery is proud to be part of such an important movement in photography; some things never change, and we hope they never do." Morrison Hotel Gallery prides itself on an exceptional level of customer service and excellence in film and digital photography acquisition, for both personal and corporate collections. Rare and iconic music photography from the gallery is available for international exhibition and sale.
