nveiled and enveloped
in the essence of
mother-of-pearl inlay
and shimmering
beyond shimmer, the
Rolls-Royce Phantom
Serenity emerges as the most expensive
one-off vehicle ever introduced to the
world. e vehicle is simply beyond
what may be imagined and no more
superlative adjectives can be used to
express its beauty.
is is just the beginning of the jaw-
dropping, bewitching dazzle of the most
amazing interior. An interior that would
perhaps even pale in comparison to what
Japanese or Chinese Emperors during
the Han Dynasty thought was opulence.
ey travelled in light bamboo or
wooden seats supported on multi carriers'
backs. ese wooden carriages of ancient
times often appeared on painted scrolls
that depicted cherry blossom landscapes
and royal processionals. e more
wealth and class one had then, the more
elaborate became the pallets and litters,
as these shoulder carriages were also
called. Decorated, painted, and lacquered
in rich shades, then gilded over with
silver and gold, and enclosed in the finest
of silk curtains, the emperors, their wives
and families sat on silken cushions, were
shielded from onlookers, and carried by
human power. Not so the Rolls-Royce
Phantom Serenity, that took its cue from
ancient luxury - and like a chrysalis -
emerged into a 21st Century vehicle.
Sir Henry Royce's maxim, "When
it does not exist, design it," inspired
the latest generation of Rolls-Royce's
Bespoke designers to ask what wholly
new approach to luxury would delight
the most demanding and exacting people
in the world – Rolls-Royce customers.
eir answer came from Rolls-Royce's
deep understanding of the most precious,
beautiful and natural materials.
