But what makes a perfect luxury grooming experience? By: Georgina Wilson-Powell Brian Cantor is the CEO of Paul Labrecque, a high-end chain of spas and upscale gentlemen's barbershops with outposts in the Upper East Side, Chelsea and Midtown. Partnering with Hommage — purveyors of sought-after male grooming products — they offer a range of relaxing services to help any man unwind. Cantor knows what makes men tick when it comes to looking good. "It used to be about maintenance. Shaving, manicures, pedicures and the odd facial. More and more men know this is not only acceptable; they enjoy it. e ritual, the personal space, the time off from a busy life, it is a luxury. But now male grooming is catching up with women, it is about anti-aging," Cantor explains. "More and more gentlemen are coming to us to be red- carpet ready. e latest anti-aging facials can be done the same day, leaving them looking great." Having been the by-word in male grooming for the last two decades, Cantor understands what men want. Attentiveness is key and clients expect a luxurious, personal experience in Paul Labrecque salons. "ere are so many technical innovations now that true luxury is that personal touch, and making sure every gentleman feels pampered and looked after. I walk the floor every day and make sure our barbershops are 100 per cent a haven where a guy can come in and switch his phone off. It is valuable shut down time to unwind, enjoy a great shave or a treatment, flirt a little and feel good about himself."
