In the Colorful Scandinavian great room, JMA takes a more formal approach. Coffering stretches overhead in a measured grid, giving the expansive room cadence and structure. Integrated lighting settles into the recesses, the chandelier finds a natural center, and the geometry above gives the room enough architectural presence to stand comfortably beside the golf-course views beyond the glass. e effect is expansive but controlled, with the ceiling lending the room a quiet sense of ceremony. en there is Juliette Byrne's Dresden stairwell, where the fifth wall becomes pure theater. Cherubs, lights, and a constellation of stars animate the surface above the stair, encouraging the eye to travel upward as the body moves through the space. e ceiling turns what might otherwise be a transitional area into a moment of discovery, giving the journey between floors its own sense of occasion. Amy Peltier's work offers another lesson: sometimes the strongest ceiling intervention is preservation. "One of our favorite decisions was preserving the home's original ceiling," Peltier says.
