PRIVATE AIR NEW YORK Editor's Letter Rebecca Etoria Editor-in-Chief Private Air Magazine The best invitations do more than open a door. They give us access to something we might not otherwise see: a remarkable home, a collector's point of view, a market before everyone is talking about it, or a destination experienced in a way that feels entirely your own. That idea became the thread running through this issue of Private Air. We look at where the next fortunes are being made and how the geography of wealth is changing. We enter Meridian House, where collector Rodney Miller reminds us that collecting at its best is not simply about ownership, but curiosity and learning to see differently. We look at the automobile as art, and at Morgan's wonderfully old- fashioned belief that a car can still begin with a conversation between its owner and the people who will build it. We are also invited into extraordinary homes, including a Malibu compound created around the way a family actually lives, and Listowel, a rare Mecox Bay estate where the landscape, gardens and water are as important as the architecture itself. And then there is Anguilla. I had the pleasure of experiencing Aurora Anguilla for this issue, and what stayed with me was not simply the beauty of Rendezvous Bay. It was the luxury of space, privacy and service so intuitive that much of it seemed to happen without being seen. That may be the most compelling form of luxury now. Perhaps that is what By Invitation ultimately means to us. Not access for the sake of access, but the opportunity to discover something exceptional, personal and worth knowing before the rest of the world arrives. Aurora Anguilla's Greg Norman-designed International Course unfolds along the Caribbean, where sculpted fairways, ocean views and the occasional passing yacht make it easy to forget the score.
