PRIVATE AIR NEW YORK Editor's Letter Rebecca Etoria Editor-in-Chief Private Air Magazine There is a certain kind of escape that has very little to do with distance. It is not simply the act of leaving one place for another, nor is it measured only by miles traveled, coastlines crossed, or passports stamped. True escape is quieter than that. It is the feeling of stepping outside the pace of everyday life and into a world shaped by privacy, beauty, intention, and ease. Recently, I had the opportunity to begin the season at Trump International Beach Resort in Sunny Isles Beach, where oceanfront suites, warm hospitality, and an easy coastal rhythm offered the feeling of a Caribbean escape without ever leaving South Florida. It was a reminder that sometimes the most restorative destinations are not the farthest away, but the ones that allow time to slow the moment you arrive. From there, summer led me to Big Cedar Lodge in Missouri's Ozark Mountains, where what began as a getaway quickly became something more meaningful. Between quiet moments on the cabin porch, shared meals, lake views, and the kind of family experiences that linger long after checkout, Big Cedar captured escape in its most heartfelt form. As we speak, I am heading to Ocho Rios, Jamaica, followed by Aurora Anguilla, continuing a season defined by movement, discovery, and the search for places that allow us to feel both transported and restored. That is the inspiration behind this issue. Our cover captures that spirit immediately: a modern villa suspended between sky, sea, and landscape, where architecture does not compete with nature but seems to belong to it. It speaks to the kind of places our readers seek most — hidden retreats, coastal sanctuaries, and destinations designed not merely for arrival, but for restoration. Inside this Summer Issue, we explore escape in its many elevated forms. We look at the places, properties, and experiences that offer more than beauty alone: destinations that create privacy, connection, ease, and a renewed sense of presence. From oceanfront resorts and lakeside retreats to coastal hideaways and island escapes, this issue reflects how luxury travel continues to evolve. Beyond travel, the theme continues across private aviation, wealth, real estate, yachting, and collector-driven living. In private aviation, access is no longer only about ownership. It is about flexibility, transparency, and the freedom to move on one's own terms. In luxury real estate, affluent buyers are increasingly prioritizing privacy, time, and seamless movement. From aviation-adjacent communities to collector-focused spaces, the most compelling properties today are not simply impressive. They are deeply personal. This issue also looks at the expanding relationship between home, travel, and identity. A residence may be a sanctuary. A yacht may become a home at sea. A hangar may become a gallery, lounge, and gathering place for a lifetime of collected passions. Across each story, a common thread emerges: luxury is becoming less about display and more about how life feels when it is beautifully supported. Summer has always carried with it a promise of escape. But for our readers, that promise is no longer limited to a season. It is a philosophy. It is the ability to move freely, live privately, collect meaningfully, and retreat to places that offer both beauty and belonging. Welcome to the Summer Issue. Welcome to Escape.
