have already learned how the building behaves.
Inside, the rigor softens into something tactile, and
human scaled. e vertical order of the ribs translates
into alignments in wall planes, reveals, and millwork.
Stone and warm wood hold daylight rather than
reflect it. Polished surfaces catch a brief glimmer and
then step back to matte textures that rest the eye.
Classical proportion is present, but the reading is
contemporary and easy to live with. You notice the
quiet first and only later the discipline that makes it
possible.
