Editor's Letter O ver the years, I've been fortunate enough to preview some of the most luxurious and architecturally significant properties in the world; many of which have graced our covers. As we search the globe for the finest estates in the world, I am reminded that there are so many factors and nuances that contribute to the classification of a residence as one of the finest estates in the world. And the main factors are definitely Location, Architecture, History, Privacy and Security. While on this journey, I am certain to say we found the Finest Estate in America - the splendid Crespi Hicks Estate. The Crespi Hicks Estate is located in the most prestigious area in Dallas, Texas – the Mayflower Estates in Preston Hollow, a small neighborhood that includes approximately 75 architect-designed homes owned by influential business, civic and philanthropic leaders. Not only is the area prized for its beauty and seclusion, but for the fact that it is remarkably only 8 minutes from the Arts District and downtown Dallas, 15 minutes from an airport (the estate has a helicopter landing area). Sited on 25 acres, the home has a rich architectural pedigree: the genius of the original architect, Maurice Fatio; the grace of landscape architect Arabella Lennox-Boyd; the brilliance of the renovation architect, Peter Marino. You will see why we call this property "The Finest Estate Home in America." We know you will revel in Private Air Luxury Homes' Exclusive Peek into this marvelous residence starting on page 108! In addition to keeping a pulse on prime offerings and real estate investments, as always Private Air follows other wonderful investment vehicles and has a particular fondness for fine art. We checked in on Christie's May 15 Post War and Contemporary Art Auction and found that interest and confidence in works of Art are definitely on the rise. Sixteen new auction records were accomplished as well as a number of world record prices for individual artists. The latter included a price of $48+ million for a Jean-Michel Basquiat, an astounding $56+ million for a Roy Lichtenstein and a $25+ million for a Philip Guston. Review the top ten sales of the night on page 33. Even if you're not an avid art collector the numbers here are astonishing, a quite few pieces sold for millions above expected, and it may send you on a quest for Post War Art. We scoured the Earth to bring you magnificent trophy homes and the swankiest bachelor pads currently on the market. Hope you enjoy the wonderful treasures featured in this issue of Private Air. Enjoy your summer and see you in September! Regina Russo Editor-in-Chief I would love to hear from you. Email comments to me at editor@private-air-mag.com 12    Private Air Luxury Homes
