This is our pick of the best resorts that offer a full buyout, from tropical islands to wilderness retreats. PRIVATE PARADISE By: Mandi Keighran I t's often said that time is a luxury, but what about total and utter seclusion? In today's increasingly connected world, privacy might just be the ultimate luxury. Celebrities have long known the appeal of a secluded getaway, and – aside from buying your own island à la Richard Branson or Leonardo DiCaprio – taking over an entire resort is the best way to go about it. Luminaries from Ed Sheeran and Drew Barrymore to the Dalai Lama have been known to "buyout" whole resorts for holidays away from the prying eyes of paparazzi and fans. ese days, however, it's not only celebrities choosing to buyout. Extravagant birthdays bringing far-flung friends from around the world together and exotic destination weddings are increasingly popular reasons for discerning travelers to take over luxury resorts. Or, there's the growing number of busy executives simply seeking solitude on holiday who will pay almost any price to get away from it all. While the first destinations to come to mind when imagining a secluded getaway likely involve swaying palm trees, sandy white beaches and crystal-clear oceans, resort buyouts aren't limited to tropical locations. Hotel Rangá in the countryside of the South Coast of Iceland offers natural wonders and adventure galore – just ask Justin Bieber or Kim Kardashian – while Il Salviatino is nestled amongst the rolling Tuscan hills of Fiesole in Italy. If you are looking for sun and sand, however, there are also plenty of beautiful beachside resorts – from the oceanfront Wymara Villas in the Turks and Caicos Islands, to the W Punta de Mita, a surfer's paradise in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico. To help you decide where to indulge in the ultimate private holiday, we've put together a list of our favorite resorts from around the world that offer the option of a full buyout. PASSPORT
