T ucked into the Bordeaux region of France is the bucolic, idyllic Cos d'Estournel, a vineyard begun by Louis-Gaspard Lacoste de Maniban in 1811. Today, Cos d'Estournel is the passion of its most recent owner, Michel Reybier - who has recently garnered a fresh wave of enthusiasm among oenophiles with the anticipated arrival of COS100, a limited-edition single varietal vintage made its debut in February. Developed to honour the 100th anniversary of "Parcelle des Femmes," a revered plot located within the heart of the vineyards planted during World War I by a courageous group of women determined not to let the negative impact of the war compromise the success of future vintages, COS100 is a rare and exceptional wine derived from the one-hundred-year- old Merlot vines originally set by the "Parcelle des Femmes". More than simply an exceptional wine, COS100 is a unique endeavour designed to pay homage to the historical significance of its terroir. Adding to the excitement, COS100 will be made available exclusively through private sales in just 10 Balthazars (12 litre) and 100 Double Magnums (3 litre). Recently, a Balthazar and Double Magnum were sold during live auctions in New York City and Hong Kong, with proceeds benefitting Elephant Family - a non-profit organization that aims to save Indian elephants from extinction through field projects, conservation efforts and habitat rehabilitation.
